Friday May 7

Amy Williamson – An extremely talented young vocalist making her debut at The White Star this month. Amy recently graduated with First-Class honours from her Degree in Music at University of Southampton, and she provides an intelligent and sensitive approach to performance and a wonderful experience for her listeners.

Amy will be accompanied by resident pianist J Fashole-Luke, who has accompanied some of the top vocalists in the industry including Melanie Blatt and India Arie.

 

Sunday May 9

Chris Ricketts played trombone in orchestras, bands and musicals for many years before progressing to specialise in jazz in a wide variety of styles as well as reggae, soul and hiphop. He has won the trombonist prize in the BBC big band competition and is now increasingly in demand as a jazz soloist. Chris has worked with many of the top jazz stars in the South as well as running his own groups Jazzbone and The Sunshine & Blues Jazz Band. Chris is accompanied by Tommy Denton, a fresh music graduate with a keen love of funk and jazz keyboards, already working freelance as a performer, musical director, teacher, arranger and more. Having played with bands everywhere from Kent to Cornwall and toured Europe's music festivals, Tom's diverse musical interests continue to lead him far and wide.

Ruth Savill - Ruth has become a firm favourite on the Southampton Music scene, with requests for performances at virtually every live music venue in the city. She has been touring Europe recently with The Urban Soul Orchestra, as well as working as a session musician. Ruth is also a talented composer and part of the Sony writing team for new artists.

 

Sunday May 16

Seeking Jazz - a Jazz trio playing songs which cover the early Jazz era right up to the modern day, including songs from Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, John Mayer to name but a few. Joey Cottle plays keyboards, Reggie Winslade plays acoustic bass while the vocals are covered by Olly Britten. Perfect laid back tunes for a lazy Sunday lunch....

Cris & Claire are a talented live acoustic guitar and vocal duo from Southampton, who have been performing together at venues and events across Hampshire for some time. Cris is a successful guitarist whose 25 year music career has seen him perform to audiences across Europe, both as a soloist and as part of a number of successful groups.  Claire is a speech level vocalist whose singing technique has been developed by Seth Riggs, vocal coach to stars such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake and Rihanna.  With a comprehensive set list of modern, nostalgic and popular tracks, Cris and Claire offer something for everyone, and their unique style is a refreshing addition to the acoustic music scene.

Paul Young - Paul is originally from Southampton, and no matter how far his music takes him, he always returns. The talented tenor saxophonist has enjoyed chart success with Gordon Haskell, reaching #2 in the UK singles chart. He is also a member of The Baker Brothers, who have played sellout tours and festivals all over the world, from Japan to North America and Europe. His unique fusion of classic pop and soul with bebop and blues is an intensely satisfying mix. Paul will be accompanied on guitar by local hero Joe Chiari, whose musical career has seen him support top touring artists such as DJ Format, Lemar, Sean Kingston, Chase & Status, GURU, Jose James and Osaka Monaurail.

 

Friday May 28

Effie Rose is one of the hottest up and coming new vocalists in the UK and has already enjoyed performing at venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Rock In The Park and The Freedom Festival along with artists such as Beverly Knight and Pixie Lott. Her debut single has been supported by radio DJs all over including Trevor Nelson, and future projects include collaborations with top urban artists Lemar and Jadakiss.

 

 

Sunday May 30

Bastien Terraz - Bas has been playing and teaching bass professionally for over a decade. He is currently a lecturer in Jazz and Pop bass guitar and double bass at Southampton University, as well as being a figurehead of the local jazz scene and a founding member of The Southampton Modern Jazz Club. He will be performing with

Harry Yeung, one of Southampton’s most experienced and lyrical saxophonists.
